THIS IS 50!

Welcome to Face of Fifty! My name is Tracie and I am the founder of Face of Fifty. I decided to start this movement because I was struggling with the idea of becoming "middle-aged" black woman; becoming seemingly more and more invisible and discounted by mainstream media and society at large.

But I've come to the realization that turning 50 is a blessing! And to be honest, I don't feel much different than I did when I was 35.  I feel just as engaged and enthusiastic as I did when I was younger.  Not to mention, I'm a hell of a lot wiser than I've ever been!

So, I'm embracing this new decade and asking other women in their fifties to join me! Let's redefine what society says is beautiful and show the world that we're still vibrant, vital and vivacious!

"We live in a youth-obsessed culture that is constantly trying to tell us that if we are not young, and we’re not glowing, and we’re not hot, that we don’t matter. I refuse to let a system or a culture or a distorted view of reality tell me that I don’t matter. I know that only by owning who and what you are can you start to step into the fullness of life. Every year should be teaching us all something valuable. Whether you get the lesson is really up to you." – Oprah Winfrey
